I was having a conversation with an old friend last night, and she was complaining about her friends. How they aren’t interesting. How they don’t really know many things, or really care about anything in particular. I have been thinking about this a lot recently, and I told her that I have a theory.
Do you know how you are assigned all of the classic novels in high school english class? I wonder what the world would be like if everyone had read them all. No sparknotes bullshit. There are important lessons to be learned. What if everyone had that knowledge? She was telling me that this guy she was seeing just stopped calling her. She was talking to him earlier, and she found out that he had never read The Catcher in the Rye. I don’t think you can trust anyone who hasn’t read The Catcher in the Rye. I’m sorry.
